Free and Open to Everyone!
Maybe it's the polar vortex, but lately I've had quilts on the brain. Considering what a cold winter we've had, it made perfect sense to invite quilt artist Hannah Thayer Johnson as our guest speaker. You may have met Hannah already, as she is our lovely Sun & Mon Z Fabrics gal, but did you know that after hours she fiendishly sews incredible quilts? Please join us on Feb. 9th for treats, warm drinks and quilts by Hannah! As always, bring what you've been working on, we'd love to see it!
Hannah Johnson is an artist from Kansas City, Missouri who has shown quilts since 2008 in various group and solo shows in Missouri, Kansas and Illinois. She explores uncommon materials and reinterprets traditional patterns, honoring lineages of quilting as a self taught survival skill. Imperfection, dirt and visible use is sought and anticipated. She's made a large body of hand quilted work since 2007, in non traditional, not square shapes. Currently she is concentrating on quilts made entirely by machine, without a single hand stitch.
